1900 Great-Grandmother Sarah BrightS Laundry Soap

Ingredients

• 5 lb good clean grease free from water
• 1 can lye
• 14 c kerosene
• 14 c amonnia
• 2 Tbsp powdered Borax
• 10 cents worth sassafras

Directions

1. Dissolve the lye well in 5 cups cold water
2. Melt the grease and strain through an old stocking into the lye stirring all the time
3. Mix the kerosene amonnia and Borax together and then add the oil of sassafras
4. Add the grease and mix well
