Ammonia CookiesGerman Christmas Cookies

Ingredients

• 3 eggs beaten
• 3 c sugar
• 3 Tbsp lard or shortening
• 3 c sour cream
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 tsp peppermint extract
• 10 c flour
• 3 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp soda
• 3 tsp powdered ammonia you get this from a pharmacy

Directions

1. Mix the first 6 ingredients together until well blended Combine flour baking powder soda and powdered ammonia mix in the egg mixture
2. Chill at least 2 hours or overnight
3. Roll out and cut with cookie cutter
4. Place on cookie sheets and bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes until light brown
5. Makes 7 to 8 dozen
