Anadama Bread

Ingredients

  • 12 c yellow cornmeal
  • 2 c boiling water
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 12 c molasses
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp dry yeast
  • 1 c warm water
  • 5 to 5 12 c flour

Directions

  1. Stir cornmeal slowly into boiling water
  2. Boil 5 minutes
  3. Add oil molasses and salt cool When lukewarm add yeast which has been dissolved in the warm water
  4. Add flour to make stiff dough Knead well
  5. Let rise until doubled
  6. Shape into 2 loaves
  7. Place in greased pans
  8. Let rise
  9. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes
  10. Reduce to 350
  11. Bake 30 minutes more
