Angel Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp warm water 105 to 115
- 1 c shortening
- 5 c all-purpose flour
- 12 c sugar
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 c buttermilk
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in warm water
- Cut shortening into flour sugar baking powder salt and soda with pastry blender
- Stir in buttermilk and yeast mixture until dough leaves sides of bowl Dough will be soft and sticky
- Pour dough onto floured surface roll into ball
- Knead lightly 25 to 30 times
- Sprinkle with flour if dough is too sticky
- Roll it 12-inch thick
- Cut with round cutter
- Bake at 400 on a greased cookie sheet for about 14 minutes
- Makes about 2 12 dozen biscuits
