Angel Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 14 c warm water
  • 5 c flour
  • 13 c sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c shortening
  • 1 12 c buttermilk

Directions

  1. In a small bowl soften yeast in warm water set aside
  2. In a large mixing bowl stir together flour sugar baking powder salt and baking soda
  3. With a pastry cutter cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs mix well
  4. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk stir until combined
  5. On a floured surface knead mixture about 2 minutes or until smooth adding more flour as needed
  6. To make ahead the dough may be stored covered in refrigerator overnight
