Anisette Knots
Ingredients
- 3 12 c flour
- 2 Tbsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 3 eggs
- 34 c granulated sugar
- 14 lb butter
- 3 tsp anise extract
- 14 c warm water I find that 14 c is sometimes too much start with 12 the amount and add if needed
Directions
- In bowl combine flour baking powder and salt
- Toss lightly Add eggs and sugar mix well
- Mixture will be crumbly
- Add melted butter anise extract and warm water
- Stir until mixture forms ball
- Knead 5 minutes until smooth
- Cook in fridge 1 hour
- Pinch off pieces of dough size of walnuts and roll into logs
- Tie into knots shape and place on lightly greased cookie sheet
- Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes until slightly brown
