Aunt BillS Brown Candy

Ingredients

• 2 c sugar
• 1 tsp soda
• 1 c buttermilk
• 34 c butter or margarine
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 c chopped pecans

Directions

1. Combine all ingredients except vanilla and pecans in buttered large glass mixing bowl
2. Cover with plastic wrap
3. Microwave on Roast or 70 for 15 minutes
4. Stir and continue cooking on Roast for 13 to 15 minutes or until a soft ball forms in cold water
5. Add vanilla and beat until mixture forms soft peaks
6. Stir in pecans Pour into a buttered 2-quart 12 x 7-inch glass baking dish
7. Cool until firm cut into pieces or drop from a teaspoon onto wax paper
