Ingredients

  • 2 lb phyllo
  • 2 lb sweet butter clarified
  • 2 lb walnuts chopped not ground
  • 12 c sugar
  • 12 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Butter a 12 x 17 x 1-inch baking pan Butter 8 to 10 sheets of phyllo for bottom crust
  2. Sprinkle nuts combined with sugar and cinnamon
  3. Sprinkle nuts on every sheet or every two sheets Top with 8 sheets Refrigerate
  4. Cut into diamonds Bake at 350 for 60 minutes After 40 minutes lower oven to 325 for remaining 20 minutes
  5. Pour cooled syrup over hot Baklava
