Banana Cream Pie

Ingredients

  • 9-inch pastry shell
  • 13 c flour
  • 12 c sugar
  • 14 tsp salt optional
  • 2 c milk divided
  • 3 small egg yolks well beaten
  • 1 tsp firm butter
  • 12 tsp vanilla
  • 2 large ripe bananas
  • 10x sugar for sprinkling

Directions

  1. Bake and cool pastry shell
  2. Blend flour sugar and salt in a heavy saucepan
  3. Over low heat slowly stir in one cup of milk until smooth
  4. Add rest of milk
  5. Stir until smooth and mixture thickens almost to a boil
  6. This will take about 5 to 6 minutes
