Basic Cornbread

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 13 c milk or 1 34 c buttermilk
- 14 c vegetable oil or melted shortening
- 2 c Martha White plain cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450
- Grease skillet or pan
- Place in oven to heat
- Beat egg in mixing bowl
- Add remaining ingredients Blend well
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 20 to 25 minutes
- Makes 1 9-inch skillet or 9-inch square pan
- Batter should be creamy and pourable
