Batter White Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg active dry yeast
  • 6 12 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 34 c warm water
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp soft shortening

Directions

  1. In large mixing bowl sprinkle yeast into water let stand a few minutes then stir until dissolved
  2. Add 3 14 cups flour sugar salt and shortening
  3. Blend at low speed then beat 2 minutes at medium speed or beat by hand
  4. Beat remaining flour in by hand Cover and let rise until doubled about 45 minutes
  5. Stir batter beating hard 12 minute
  6. Spread in 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans
  7. Let rise until doubled about 20 minutes
  8. Bake in moderate oven at 375 for 40 to 50 minutes
