Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 14 c warm water
  • 2 12 c flour
  • 12 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 18 c sugar
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 12 c shortening

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast
  2. Mix dry ingredients
  3. Cut in shortening Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk
  4. Blend thoroughly and refrigerate or roll into biscuits
  5. Let rise slightly bake at 400 for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown
  6. Dough will keep up to 3 days in fridge
  7. Makes 8 fat biscuits
