Beef Casserole Italiano

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 14 c chopped yellow onion
  • 2 8 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp parsley flakes
  • 12 tsp leaf oregano
  • 1 tsp leaf basil
  • 12 tsp salt divided
  • 14 tsp pepper
  • 2 10 oz pkg frozen chopped spinach thawed and drained well
  • 2 c Ricotta cheese
  • 1 8 oz pkg Mozzarella cheese slices

Directions

  1. Brown ground beef and onion drain off fat
  2. Stir in the tomato sauce parsley oregano basil 14 teaspoon salt and pepper Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes stirring occasionally Meanwhile combine spinach Ricotta cheese and remaining 14 teaspoon salt
  3. Spoon spinach mixture around edges of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish
  4. Pour beef mixture into center
  5. Cut each Mozzarella slice into 3 strips and arrange in a lattice pattern over meat
  6. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes
  7. Yields 8 servings
