Ingredients

  • 1 1 lb loaf frozen bread dough thawed
  • 1 Tbsp bacon drippings
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 12 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb cabbage shredded 4 c
  • 12 tsp msg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • melted butter

Directions

  1. Divide dough into 6 balls and set aside
  2. Heat drippings in a skillet add onions and cook until tender
  3. Add meat
  4. Cook until browned
  5. Add cabbage and seasonings
  6. Cover and steam until cabbage is wilted
  7. Let cool
  8. Roll and stretch each dough ball into 5-inch square
  9. Place filling in center
  10. Bring opposite edges together and seal
  11. Place sealed-side down on slightly greased cookie sheet
  12. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes
  13. Brush tops with melted butter
  14. May use 1 20 ounce can sauerkraut instead of cabbage
