Ingredients

  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 c 12 lb butter or melted margarine
  • 4 Tbsp anisette
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 6 eggs
  • 5 12 c unsifted flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 2 c coarsely chopped almonds or walnuts

Directions

  1. Mix sugar with butter anise liqueur vanilla water and nuts optional

  4. Mix flour with baking powder and stir into sugar mixture blend thoroughly
  5. Cover and chill for 2 to 3 hours
  6. Directly on greased baking sheets shape dough with your hands to form flat loaves 12 inch thick by 2 inches wide by length of baking sheet
  7. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes
