Black Bean Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 c black beans
  • 1 12 qt water
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 c beef broth
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp sherry wine
  • slice of lemon

Directions

  1. Soak the beans overnight drain
  2. Add the water
  3. Add the cloves bay leaf garlic celery carrot and onion
  4. Cook slowly for 3 hours
  5. Mash beans
  6. Add the beef broth
  7. Combine the flour and melted butter add to soup
  8. Add the sherry wine to taste Adjust seasoning
  9. Serve with slice of lemon
