Braised Red Cabbage
Ingredients
- 1 red cabbage about 1 lb
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 12 c coarsely chopped onion
- 1 apple peeled cored and cut in thin slices
- 12 c fresh or canned chicken broth
- 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- 12 tsp cloves or to taste
Directions
- Discard any tough or wilted leaves from the cabbage and core Julienne the cabbage
- Heat oil in a heavy frypan
- Add the onion and cabbage and cook until wilted
- Add the apple broth vinegar honey or sugar cloves salt and pepper
- Blend well
- Cover and cook for 15 minutes stirring often
- Add the butter
- Stir and blend well
- Serves 4
