Bread Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 8 slices day old bread or toast
  • 2 Tbsp margarine
  • 14 c chopped onion
  • 12 c chopped celery
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 14 tsp pepper
  • 12 to 34 c chicken broth
  • 2 eggs

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325
  2. Cut bread into small cubes
  3. Put into large mixing bowl
  4. Melt margarine in large skillet
  5. Add onions and celery cook until tender
  6. Add to bread crumbs
  7. Add sage salt and pepper
  8. Moisten with broth as desired
  9. Beat eggs lightly
  10. Stir into dressing
  11. Use as stuffing for poultry or other meats or bake covered in a one-quart casserole dish for 30 minutes
  12. Equals 1 bread 1 fat and 1 vegetable
