Brown Bread
Ingredients
- 3 c bran cereal
- 1 12 c sugar
- 1 12 c raisins or dates or prunes
- 3 c buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp dark corn syrup
- 3 c sifted flour
- 3 tsp soda
- 34 tsp salt
- 12 c chopped nuts
Directions
- Mix first 5 ingredients
- Let stand 5 minutes
- Add the rest mix until flour is dampened
- Fill oiled cans a little more than half full
- Place in cold oven
- Bake at 325
- Bake about 40 minutes
- Let set a little before you loosen them
- Run a serrated knife around the sides and they will slowly slide out
- Makes 7 cans
- Tastes better the longer it sets
- Can use more nuts prunes and raisins
