Butter-Nut Crunch

Ingredients

  • 1 c sugar
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 12 c butter or margarine
  • 14 c water
  • 12 c chopped walnuts
  • 1 6 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate pieces 1 c
  • 12 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Butter a 15 x 10-inch cookie sheet and set aside
  2. In a medium saucepan combine sugar salt butter or margarine and water
  3. Cook until mixture reaches soft crack stage or 270 on a candy thermometer
  4. Stir in chopped walnuts
  5. Pour onto prepared cookie sheet
