Butter Crunch Toffee

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter
  • 1 13 c sugar
  • 1 Tbsp white syrup
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 12 c chopped nuts
  • 1 12 oz pkg chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Melt butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan
  2. Add sugar
  3. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves
  4. Add water and syrup
  5. Cook over medium heat stirring often to soft ball stage 290 about 12 minutes
  6. Watch carefully after reaching 280
  7. Remove from heat
  8. Quickly stir in nuts and spread on a buttered baking sheet Cool thoroughly
  9. Melt chocolate chips
  10. Spread 12 on one side of toffee and sprinkle with nuts
  11. Cool
  12. Turn candy over and spread remaining melted chocolate on other side
  13. Cool
  14. Break into pieces
