Butterhorns

Ingredients
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 14 c lukewarm water
- 2 c flour sifted
- 12 tsp salt
- 12 c butter
- 14 c shortening
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 egg whites
- 12 c sugar
Directions
- Blend the yeast 1 tablespoon sugar and lukewarm water together in a small bowl set aside
- Combine the sifted flour salt butter and shortening in a large mixing bowl
- Cut butter and shortening into the flour and salt mixture with a pastry blender
- Beat the egg yolks slightly with a fork add to flour mixture along with yeast mixture
- Mix well
- Beat the egg whites until foamy
- Begin adding 12 cup sugar very gradually beat until mixture holds a stiff peak
