Buttermilk Cake

Buttermilk Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 c sugar
  • 1 c butter or margarine
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c flour
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 13 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Cream sugar and butter
  2. Add egg yolks one at a time and mix well
  3. Dissolve soda in small amount of warm water then add 12 of buttermilk
  4. Add to mixture and mix well
  5. Add rest of buttermilk
  6. Add vanilla then add flour
  7. Beat 150 strokes
  8. Beat egg whites and add last
  9. Bake about 1 hour in 300 oven using angel food cake or Bundt pan
  10. Cake may be eaten as is or may drizzle outside with powdered sugar icing
