Buttermilk Cake
Ingredients
- 3 c sugar
- 1 c butter or margarine
- 5 eggs
- 3 c flour
- 1 c buttermilk
- 13 tsp soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Cream sugar and butter
- Add egg yolks one at a time and mix well
- Dissolve soda in small amount of warm water then add 12 of buttermilk
- Add to mixture and mix well
- Add rest of buttermilk
- Add vanilla then add flour
- Beat 150 strokes
- Beat egg whites and add last
- Bake about 1 hour in 300 oven using angel food cake or Bundt pan
- Cake may be eaten as is or may drizzle outside with powdered sugar icing
