Buttermilk Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 3 13 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp cinnamon
  • 14 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 34 c buttermilk

Directions

  1. Heat 3 to 4-inches of oil to 375 in deep fryer
  2. Measure 1 12 cups flour and the remaining ingredients in a large bowl Blend 12 minute on low speed scraping bowl occasionally
  3. Stir in remaining flour Turn dough onto well floured surface Roll around lightly to coat with flour
  4. Gently roll dough 38-inch thick
  5. Cut with floured doughnut cutter With wide spatula slide doughnuts into hot fryer Turn doughnuts as they rise to surface Fry 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown Carefully remove from oil
  6. Drain
  7. Serve plain sugared or frosted Makes 2 dozen
