Buttermilk Scones
Ingredients
- 2 c all-purpose flour
- 13 c granulated sugar
- 1 12 tsp baking powder
- 14 tsp salt
- 12 tsp baking soda
- 6 Tbsp unsalted butter chilled
- 12 c buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 12 tsp vanilla
- 23 c currants or raisins optional
Directions
- In large bowl stir together flour sugar baking powder baking soda and salt
- With pastry blender or 2 knives cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
- In small bowl stir together buttermilk egg and vanilla
- Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture and stir to combine
- Stir in currants or raisins if desired
