Cabbage Burger Bake
Ingredients
- 1 small head cabbage 2 lb
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 12 lb ground beef
- 18 tsp pepper
- 3 c water
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 c uncooked rice
- 1 tsp salt
- 32 oz jar Ragu with mushrooms
Directions
- Quarter and shred cabbage
- Spread half in buttered 12-cup baking dish
- Saute bacon just until fat starts to cook out in frying pan
- Stir onions and rice in drippings
- in frying pan and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until onion is soft and rice is lightly browned
- Spoon over cabbage in baking dish
- Cook ground beef and crumble over rice mixture
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper
- Top with remaining cabbage
- Heat Ragu and water to boiling
- Pour slowly over cabbage
- Top with bacon
- Cover and bake at 400
- for 1 hour
