Candied Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 6 medium sliced apples peeled
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 Tbsp margarine
  • 13 c dark Karo syrup
  • 12 c brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 3 Tbsp syrup
  • 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 12 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Prepare pastry of 2-crust 9-inch pie
  2. Fill bottom shell with apples
  3. Combine next six ingredients
  4. Pour over apples
  5. Cover with top crust
  6. Bake at 425 for 45 minutes or until crust is brown and apples are tender
  7. Remove from oven
