Candy Cane Cookies

Ingredients

  • 12 c butter softened
  • 12 c shortening
  • 1 c powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 12 tsp almond
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 12 c flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp red food coloring
  • 12 c crushed peppermint candy
  • 12 c sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Mix thoroughly butter shortening sugar egg and flavorings
  3. Blend in flour and salt
  4. Divide dough in half blend food color into one half
  5. Shape 1 teaspoon dough from each half into 4-inch rope
  6. Press together and twist
  7. Place on ungreased baking sheet curve top down to form cane
  8. Bake about 9 minutes
  9. Sprinkle with candy and sugar mixture
