Caramel Crunch Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 28 Kraft caramels
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 9-inch unbaked pastry shell
  • 4 c cooking apple slices
  • 34 c all-purpose flour
  • 13 c sugar
  • 12 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 13 c margarine
  • 12 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. In a saucepan combine caramels and water cooking and stirring over low heat until smooth
  2. In a pastry shell layer apples and caramel sauce
  3. In a mixing bowl combine flour sugar and cinnamon
  4. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  5. Stir in nuts
  6. Sprinkle crumb mixture over apples and caramel sauce
  7. Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes until apples are tender
  8. Cool
  9. Makes 6 to 8 servings
