Caramels

Ingredients
- 1 c butter
- 1 1 lb pkg brown sugar
- dash of salt
- 1 c light corn syrup
- 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Melt butter in heavy 3-quart saucepan over medium heat
- Add brown sugar salt and corn syrup mix well
- Add condensed milk gradually stirring constantly
- Cook until mixture reaches 245 on candy thermometer firm ball stage
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
- Pour into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan
- Let stand until cool
- Cut into squares
- Yield 36 servings
