Cauliflower Au Gratin
Ingredients
- 1 medium head cauliflower
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 12 tsp salt
- 1 c milk
- 18 tsp mace or nutmeg
- 18 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 Tbsp parsley chopped
- paprika
- 34 c day old bread diced into 12-inch pieces
- 14 c walnuts chopped
Directions
- Separate cauliflower into flowerets and cook in boiling salted water for 10 minutes
- Drain and turn into a casserole or shallow baking dish
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan
- Blend in flour and salt
- Gradually add milk and cook stirring constantly until thickened
- Add spices and parsley
- Pour over cauliflower Melt remaining butter and add several good shakes of paprika
- Toss with bread cubes
- Add walnuts and sprinkle over cauliflower
- Bake 10 to 15 minutes in a 400 oven
