Cheese And Onion Bread
Ingredients
- 1 large chopped onion
- 12 c butter
- 1 Tbsp yeast
- 34 c warm water
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 beaten eggs
- 3 12 c flour
- 1 12 c Cheddar cheese grated
- 1 12 c whole wheat flour
- 1 egg yolk beaten with 2 tsp water for glaze
Directions
- Saute onion in butter until soft
- Do not overcook
- Remove from heat
- Cool
- Dissolve yeast in a large bowl
- Add honey beaten eggs and salt
- Mix well
- Add two cups of flour beat well until sponge is smooth
- Add onion and butter mix
- Add cheese Mix in well
- Stir in 1 12 cups flour and 1 cup whole wheat flour
- Knead on floured board for five minutes or more
- Return to greased bowl
- Turn kneaded ball over in bowl to grease all surfaces
- Cover
- Let rise in warm place until double in size Form into 2 loaves
- Brush with glaze
