Cheese Date Pastries

Ingredients

  • 1 large pkg pitted dates chopped
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 12 c water
  • 1 c margarine
  • 8 oz grated cheese
  • 2 c flour
  • fine chopped pecans optional

Directions

  1. Cook dates sugar and water over low heat stirring constantly until soft
  2. Cream margarine and cheese together blend in flour Chill at least 1 hour work with a small amount of dough at a time
  3. Roll 12-inch thick on lightly floured board cut into rounds
  4. On half rounds place 1 heaping teaspoon date filling Cover each with another round of pastry
  5. Press edges together with fork
  6. Bake in 350 oven for 15 minutes
