Cheese Grits Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 12 c hominy grits do not use quick cooking
- 6 c boiling water
- 1 12 tsp salt
- 6 oz sharp Cheddar cheese thinly sliced
- 34 c milk
- 34 c buttered bread crumbs
- 12 tsp paprika
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
Directions
- In heavy saucepan stir grits slowly into boiling water
- Cook 5 minutes stirring occasionally
- Allow grits to cool
- Mix well with beaten eggs
- In greased 1 12-quart baking dish alternate layers of grits and cheese
- Pour milk over top
- Sprinkle with bread crumbs and paprika
- Bake in preheated oven at 325 for about 30 minutes
- Serves 6
