Chicken Fried Steaks

Ingredients

  • 14 c all-purpose flour
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 12 tsp black pepper
  • 1 pkg approximately 4 cubed beef steaks
  • 1 large egg slightly beaten
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 c saltine crackers crumbled
  • vegetable oil
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 14 c chicken broth
  • 12 c milk
  • dash of Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. Combine the first 3 ingredients sprinkle on both sides of steaks
  2. Combine egg and milk in a shallow bowl
  3. Dip steaks in egg mixture then dredge in cracker crumbs
  4. Pour oil to depth of 12 inch into large heavy skillet
  5. Fry steaks in hot oil over medium heat until brown turning once
  6. Remove steaks drain off drippings reserving 3 tablespoons
  7. In skillet add flour stirring until smooth
  8. Cook 1 minute
  9. Add broth and 12 cup milk stir constantly until thick
  10. Add Worcestershire sauce stir
  11. Serve gravy with steaks and cooked rice or mashed potatoes
