Chocolate Buttermilk Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 34 c butter
  • 34 c shortening
  • 2 12 c sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 12 tsp baking soda
  • 14 tsp salt
  • 13 c cocoa
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 c finely chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Grease and flour a Bundt pan or tube pan In large bowl cream together the butter shortening and sugar
  2. Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition In another bowl combine the flour baking soda salt and cocoa Stir to mix
  3. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk Add vanilla and mix well Stir in walnuts Pour the batter into the prepared pan Bake for about 1 hour 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into center of cake After the cake has cooled slightly in the pan turn it out onto a cake plate
