Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake

Ingredients

  • 23 c butter or margarine softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 14 c flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 12 tsp salt
  • well rinsed chopped sauerkraut
  • 1 12 c sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 12 c unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Grease and lightly flour two 8-inch layer pans
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time
  5. Add vanilla
  6. Sift flour cocoa baking powder baking soda and salt
  7. Add to creamed mixture alternating with water
  8. Stir in sauerkraut
  9. Bake in preheated pans at 350 for about 30 minutes or until cake tests done
  10. Frost with your favorite icing
