Christmas Braid

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 14 c sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 12 c mixed candied fruit
  • 1 c raisins
  • 1 c milk lukewarm
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 12 c flour
  • 14 c butter
  • 12 c nuts

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in a little warm water
  2. Mix shortening salt sugar egg vanilla and milk
  3. Add yeast mixture then flour
  4. Mix well
  5. Add raisins candied fruit and nuts
  6. Let rise
  7. Divide into 3 parts
  8. Roll each portion into a long roll
  9. Form into a braid
  10. Let rise until light
  11. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350
