Christmas Cutout Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 c butter
- 1 c brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp water
- 1 rounded tsp soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 c granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 6 c pastry flour
- 1 rounded tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Cream butter well add white and brown sugar slowly and cream well
- Beat eggs cold water and vanilla
- Mix and sift dry ingredients and add alternately with liquid ingredients to cream mixture
- Chill at least 12 hour
- Can be wrapped in wax paper and left overnight
- Roll to desired thickness about 18 or 14-inch and bake for 12 to 15 minutes in a 350 oven
- Frost with colored frosting or brush with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with colored sugars
