Christmas Pickles
Ingredients
- cucumbers
- 4 c vinegar
- 4 Tbsp alum
- 4 Tbsp salt
- 8 Tbsp pickling spices
- 8 c sugar
- 7 Tbsp water
Directions
- Wash and pack cucumbers small in gallon jar or container with tight lid
- Add vinegar alum salt and pickling spices
- Put all in jar and finish filling jar with water so pickles are covered
- Shake well and leave in jar until before Christmas Open near Christmas and wash pickles well
- Slice and put back in clean jar
- Add sugar and water stir until sugar is all dissolved daily
- Keep in refrigerator
- I transfer to small jars after sugar is dissolved
- I make them up about August or September when pickles are in
