Cinnamon Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups self rising flour
- 14 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 14 tsp baking soda
- 13 c shortening
- 12 c raisins
- 34 to 1 c buttermilk
Directions
- Heat oven to 450 degrees
- Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup level off
- In large bowl combine flour sugar cinnamon and baking soda
- Using pastry blender or fork cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs stir in raisins
- Stirring with fork add buttermilk until mixture leaves sides of bowl and soft dough forms
- Turn dough onto floured surface and knead lightly until no longer sticky
- Roll out 12
- inch thick and cut with floured 2 12 inch cutter
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet with sides touching
- Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown
- Cool 5 minutes on wire rack and frost Serve immediately
