Civil War Pound Cake

Ingredients

• 1 lb sugar
• 1 lb flour
• 1 lb butter
• 12 eggs
• 1 lemon grated and 12 juice

Directions

1. Dissolve soda the size of a pea in 1 tablespoon of cold water
2. Beat eggs separately and very well
3. Mix whites last
4. Fold in carefully
5. Bake about one hour or until tested with a straw that comes out clean
