Collards And Cornbread

Ingredients

  • 2 bunches collard greens turnipmustard greens
  • salt
  • water
  • 2 ham hocks or 1 c ham chunks
  • bacon drippings add anytime you want

Directions

  1. Wash greens thoroughly 2 to 3 times to remove sand
  2. Take out and discard tough stems
  3. Put ham hocks or ham chunks in pot
  4. Add greens and fill half full with water
  5. Let greens come to a boil then turn fire down and simmer 2 12 to 3 hours or until seasoned and tender
  6. Add salt according to taste when serving
  7. Lift greens out of water into a flat bowl and cut into bite size pieces with a sharp knife
  8. We like to sprinkle pepper sauce or vinegar on our plates
