Collards And Cornbread
Ingredients
- 2 bunches collard greens turnipmustard greens
- salt
- water
- 2 ham hocks or 1 c ham chunks
- bacon drippings add anytime you want
Directions
- Wash greens thoroughly 2 to 3 times to remove sand
- Take out and discard tough stems
- Put ham hocks or ham chunks in pot
- Add greens and fill half full with water
- Let greens come to a boil then turn fire down and simmer 2 12 to 3 hours or until seasoned and tender
- Add salt according to taste when serving
- Lift greens out of water into a flat bowl and cut into bite size pieces with a sharp knife
- We like to sprinkle pepper sauce or vinegar on our plates
