Company Coming Potato Casserole100 Year Old Recipe One Of President LincolnS Favorites
Ingredients
- 8 medium potatoes peeled and diced
- 8 Tbsp butter or half margarine
- 6 Tbsp flour
- 2 c heavy cream half and half
- 1 c grated sharp cheese
- 12 c fine bread crumbs
- pepper and salt to taste
- 2 c rinsed pinto beans
- 2 to 3-inches water in kettle
- 12 c brown sugar
- 12 c white sugar
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- dash of pepper
- 1 onion minced
- 14 c molasses
- dash of catsup
- 4 to 6 green tomatoes
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 c flour
- 12 c butter
- sugar
- salt and pepper
Directions
- Slice unpeeled tomatoes 12-inch thick
- Dip each slice into beaten egg then flour
- Fry in butter until lightly brown on each side
- Stack in casserole 3 to 4 slices high sprinkling each slice lightly with sugar salt and pepper
- Bake at 350 for 30 minutes
