Coney Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 lb hamburger
  • 1 small No 2 can tomato juice
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp catsup
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 medium onions
  • 12 c vinegar
  • 1 small can tomato puree
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp barbecue sauce
  • pinch of salt
  • garlic optional

Directions

  1. Fry together
  2. Drain hamburger and onions
  3. Mix together in a large kettle sugar vinegar juice tomato puree chili powder pepper catsup sauce Worcestershire sauce and garlic salt
  4. Add hamburger and onion to this mix
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Simmer over low heat for 1 hour
  7. Cool run it through a meat grinder
  8. One pint makes 8 or 9 Coneys
