Coopers Famous Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 3 12 c sugar
- 1 lb butter softened to room temperature
- 6 eggs room temperature
- 12 c milk
- 4 c flour cake flour preferred
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
- 1 c nuts and 1 c raisins optional
Directions
- Preheat oven to 300
- Mix dry ingredients except sugar together
- Sift 3 times
- Cream butter and sugar mixture
- Beat eggs and then add to butter and sugar mixture
- Using electric mixer add flour and milk intermittently to butter eggs and sugar mixture
- Flour should be added as the very last ingredient
- Then add vanilla to the mixture
- Flour and grease round tube pan
- Bake cake to golden brown about 2 hours
- One cup floured nuts and 1 cup floured raisins may be added to mixture as last ingredients if desired
