Coopers Famous Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 12 c sugar
  • 1 lb butter softened to room temperature
  • 6 eggs room temperature
  • 12 c milk
  • 4 c flour cake flour preferred
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
  • 1 c nuts and 1 c raisins optional

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 300
  2. Mix dry ingredients except sugar together
  3. Sift 3 times
  4. Cream butter and sugar mixture
  5. Beat eggs and then add to butter and sugar mixture
  6. Using electric mixer add flour and milk intermittently to butter eggs and sugar mixture
  7. Flour should be added as the very last ingredient
  8. Then add vanilla to the mixture
  9. Flour and grease round tube pan
  10. Bake cake to golden brown about 2 hours
  11. One cup floured nuts and 1 cup floured raisins may be added to mixture as last ingredients if desired
