Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 12 tsp baking soda
  • 4 Tbsp shortening
  • 34 c buttermilk or amount needed

Directions

  1. Sift flour with baking powder salt and soda
  2. Quickly rub in shortening
  3. Then add enough buttermilk to make a soft dough Turn out on floured dough board and knead lightly a few strokes Then gently roll out to about 34-inch thick
  4. Cut in rounds and place on a greased cookie sheet
  5. Grease each biscuit with melted shortening
  6. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes
  7. Makes 15 biscuits
