County Fair Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

• 2 c sifted flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• pinch of salt
• 12 tsp cinnamon
• 14 tsp nutmeg
• 1 c seedless raisins
• 1 c water
• 1 c vegetable shortening
• 1 12 c sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 c uncooked quick oats

Directions

1. Sift flour baking soda salt cinnamon and nutmeg onto wax paper
2. Combine raisins and water in small saucepan bring to boiling remove from heat
3. Cover cool to room temperature
4. Beat shortening and sugar well beat in eggs and vanilla
5. Blend flour mixture into shortening mixture until smooth
6. Add cooled raisins and liquid and oats
7. Mix well
8. Cover bowl chill at least 1 hour
9. Drop cookies from teaspoons onto lightly greased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart
10. Bake in oven at 350 for 10 minutes or until evenly brown
11. Transfer at once to wire racks to cool Store in container with tight fitting lid
