Crackle Snappers
Ingredients
- 1 6 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 23 c shortening
- 12 c sugar
- 1 egg
- 14 c light corn syrup
- 1 34 c sifted flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 14 tsp salt
- 1 c finely chopped walnuts
- sugar
Directions
- Melt chocolate morsels over hot not boiling water
- Remove from heat and set aside
- Combine shortening 12 cup sugar and egg and beat until creamy
- Blend in melted chocolate and corn syrup Sift together flour baking soda cinnamon and salt and stir in gradually
- Add nuts and mix well
- Shape into balls using 1 level tablespoonful for each
- Roll balls in about 14 cup sugar
- Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet
- Bake at 350 for 15 minutes
- Yields 3 dozen 3-inch cookies
