Crispy Crunchy Brittle
Ingredients
- 2 c coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1 c granulated sugar
- 12 c light corn syrup
- 14 c water
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 12 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
Directions
- Place walnuts in 9-inch glass pie plate
- Microwave at High 5 minutes stirring halfway through until toasted set aside
- In 2-quart glass measuring cup with handle combine sugar corn syrup water butter and salt
- Microwave at High 5 to 6 minutes stirring well at least once until sugar dissolves
- Microwave at High 4 12 to 7 minutes stirring once after 2 minutes until mixture reaches 300
- Stir in baking soda add toasted walnuts Turn at once into buttered 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan
- Spread thin
- Let stand until cooled
- Break into pieces
- Makes 1 12 pounds
