Csorege Hungarian Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 c flour
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 12 tsp salt
- 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
- 12 c thick sour cream
- 12 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 Tbsp confectioners sugar
- Crisco for deep frying
Directions
- Sift together flour sugar and salt
- Make a well in dry ingredients and pour in mixture of egg yolks sour cream and vanilla
- Blend well
- Let dough rest for 1 to 2 minutes
- Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 18-inch thick
- Cut dough into diamond-shaped pieces 2-inches wide at center and 6-inches long
- Make a 1-inch slice in center of each diamond pull end through center twisting slightly
- Heat oil to 365 and fry diamonds for about 3 minutes or until lightly brown
- Drain on paper towels
- Sprinkle with confectioners sugar
