Csorege Hungarian Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
  • 12 c thick sour cream
  • 12 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp confectioners sugar
  • Crisco for deep frying

Directions

  1. Sift together flour sugar and salt
  2. Make a well in dry ingredients and pour in mixture of egg yolks sour cream and vanilla
  3. Blend well
  4. Let dough rest for 1 to 2 minutes
  5. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 18-inch thick
  6. Cut dough into diamond-shaped pieces 2-inches wide at center and 6-inches long
  7. Make a 1-inch slice in center of each diamond pull end through center twisting slightly
  8. Heat oil to 365 and fry diamonds for about 3 minutes or until lightly brown
  9. Drain on paper towels
  10. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar
